Debra was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her father, Vernon Fowlkes, was owner and manager of Fo-Mac Inc., a manufacturing business. Her mother, Betty Lou, worked at home, raised three children, and was a devoted partner to her father. She graduated from OST (Oklahoma State School of Technical Training) in Commercial Art. Her first job was with Conoco Inc., in Ponca City, Oklahoma. She worked as a graphic illustrator and designed newsletters, posters, brochures, and slides. She married in 1975 and her husband, Pat, works for Conoco Phillips. They transferred to Orange, Texas in 1994 and soon became members of First United Methodist Church. Their daughter, Laura, attends college and will be pursuing a career in Criminal Justice. Debra enjoys crafting, and spending time with her family and friends.
