FAITH—is more than a word. In my life I have seen aircrafts that can fly faster than the speed of sound, shuttles that can dock on a station suspended in the darkness of space and come home again safe and sound, and automobiles that can travel just as fast. The principle for such technology was around in Abraham’s day, but he didn’t know how to develop it. So he did well to travel four miles per hour. Instead of sailing across the horizon he traveled by walking or riding in a slow wagon. Once he took a journey; it was not an easy one, lesser men would’ve shrunk from it. He did not know what the end would be or what he would meet along the way. Though he didn’t possess the wonderful power we today have learned to use, he did possess a power even better. The Bible says, “By faith Abraham . . . obeyed and went even though he did not know where he was going.”
Several months ago Sandra and I prayed about an opportunity that opened up for us, even though we were not looking for the opportunity. It was by faith in God’s will for our lives and really for the will of your lives too, that we said yes, to the call to mission placed before us. It is a leap of faith on ALL our parts, and SOON we will have another chance to take the leap of faith, when Rev. Craig Gilliam comes to meet with us and get to know us. Just like Abraham, we do not know where it will take us, but it is my prayer that this step of faith will bring us to a new challenge and mission as we seek God’s will for our lives and the community around us.
You will be hearing more soon about the opportunity we have before us.
See you Sunday if not before,
John
