Free Grief Class Offered
Stephen Ministers of First United Methodist Church Orange coordinated our church's participation in a local seminar sponsored by Chad's Place in Beaumont on November 1-2, 2007. The first session was titled “Surviving the Holidays Through Grieving Eyes’. Our church provided transportation in the church vans to the first session on Thursday with interested members encouraged to participate in the second session, "Helping Grievers Embrace the Holiday Season".
The speaker, Dr. Harold Ivan Smith, is an acclaimed author, speaker and grief educator; he has written over 25 books on grief and bereavement. His goal is to teach survivors that although they will not “get over it,” they will integrate their grief into their lives. Dr. Smith is an inspirational speaker who gives grievers the right to grieve while offering hope for the future. Additional information on Stephen Ministry.
