United Methodist Men (UMM)
Monthly Breakfast Gathering
The UMM meet the second Saturday of every month at 8:00 a.m. for breakfast, fellowship and spiritual renewal. The breakfast is prepared by a different volunteer each month and the men share the serving and clean up.
Service
The men have participated in a variety of projects such as: rearrange sanctuary pews to provide wheel chair spaces, work with other church members on Mission work day projects, work as wait staff for women’s dinners etc.
Strength for Service
The men support the Strength for Service devotional book project of the General Commission of United Methodist Church. We have sent money to GCUMM to help provide Strength for Service devotional books to our military personnel being deployed around the world.
Strength for Service, which is the only book of its kind, was released in 2002, and has since been distributed to more than 400,000 people of all denominations. The GCUMM is the organization behind raising funds and distributing books on a daily basis. The men at FUMC Orange are in the process of purchasing and distributing Strength for Service devotional books to police, firefighters and other public servants in our local area.
Orange County UMM Organization
Our men also participate in Orange County UMM organization which meets quarterly and is composed of men from the seven Methodist churches in Orange County. This group is working on a project to build a Mobile Medical Clinic which will be shipped to some area of the world where there is currently no available medical facilities. Fundraising for this project is at about 50% of the goal.
