MOPS (Mothers of PreSchoolers)
What is MOPS?
MOPS is an international non-profit group that focuses on providing support, resources, tools, and the Word of God to mothers with children ages birth through kindergarten, and our church generously charters our local group. Members come from all denominations, ages, and walks of life, but share one desire-to be great moms
What do we do?
At each of our meetings, we share our experiences, learn from one another, support each other, and laugh together. A typical meeting includes a devotional, fun activities, a creative project, a speaker or video on special topics related to motherhood, and discussion groups. We also have a MOM’s Night Outs, playdates, family events, and community service activities. In fact, our service project this year is hosting a celebration for a local foster child who is graduating not only from high school but also out of the foster care system.
When do we meet?
MOPS meetings are held on the 4th Thursday in August and the 3rd Thursdays September through May from 9:30 am – 12:00 pm in the Praise Center, but as mentioned before, we meet continually throughout the month through various activities in our community.
How many moms attend?
We currently have 16 moms registered for this year with 12 already registered and committed to return next school year. About eleven of those moms are non FUMC church members!
What is a MOPPET?
We refer to the children of MOPS as MOPPETs. An average of ten loving and dedicated volunteers have devoted themselves to providing a welcoming, exciting, and educational environment for the children. Moms often comment about how their children love coming to MOPS, because the moms see love for their children in the faces of these volunteers.
